Trish, Rex & Narelle Forrest of sheep & hereford property "Rosstulla" near Beechworth in NE Victoria, Australia were kind enough to open their estate to farmers in the region on Thursday 30th April 2009 to show off the Dynamic Fodder unit they had installed late in 2008. It was a cool, clear 17 degrees (C) on the day and the land was very dry - a perfect setting to see first hand the benefits of the fodder production system they now have to hand. The Forrest team are still bringing the unit up to full capacity, running 6 rows of seed/fodder trays of the 7 row system at the time of the Open Day. They have gained some valuable experience in the few months of operation and achieved significant positive impacts on beef & wool quality, yielding higher prices at market. Other farmers could see how the whole process worked, from sourcing & washing the seed, right through to extracting the green fodder and feeding the animals.
With temperatures dropping to just above freezing overnight, Dynamic Fodder have had to increase the water heating capacity of the system to gain the ideal temperature range of 17 to 22 degrees (C). "Rosstulla has been an extremely valuable installation for us" says Dynamic Fodder Sales Director Russell Manfield, "because we have been able to test in a live working environment most elements of the entire system. We designed these units to run for 10 years minimum in mild as well as extreme conditions. Our installations in the United Arab Emirates have tested the units in high temperatures and low humidity, Rosstulla has provided cool dry conditions. We've yet to test in extreme cold wet climates but a likely installation in Russia later this year will be a valuable proving ground. We are deeply grateful to Trish, Rex & Narelle for their continued efforts and willingness to help us further improve what is shown to be a great foundation design."
A number of sales were secured at the Open Day to farmers in the NE Victorian region. These are in the process of being constructed to client specifications. Our thanks to Trish, Rex & Narelle for their hospitality and their fabulous fruit cake, baked on the day!
